Project Brief
Pembroke & Bull Contracts Ltd was appointed by HBS to undertake specialist external works to a prestigious residential property located in South Kensington. The project required a high-quality finish appropriate to the surrounding conservation area, with careful coordination to manage access, protect the building fabric, and maintain the appearance of the property throughout the works.
Scope of Works
The scope of works comprised a combination of specialist façade cleaning, timber repairs, and external decoration. DOFF cleaning was undertaken to sensitively remove surface contamination while preserving the integrity of the masonry. Timber repairs were completed to defective elements prior to full external redecoration, ensuring a durable and long-lasting finish.
Key Challenges
Access constraints presented a significant challenge, particularly within the internal lightwells where conventional access methods were not feasible. Rope access techniques were employed, allowing works to be carried out safely and efficiently without the need for intrusive scaffolding. This approach minimised disruption while maintaining full access to all required areas.
Results
The project was completed on time and within budget, with all works delivered to the required standard. The external appearance of the building was significantly enhanced, and the successful use of specialist access and cleaning methods ensured the long-term protection of the building fabric. No issues were raised by the client during or following completion.
